Life Upside Down

Combine most of Europe and Asia and what do you get? A lot of rocks, criminals and some really good wine.

A week or so ago, I got into a fight with a 40-ish-year-old man who swore Australia was no bigger than Michigan. “New Zealand and Michigan might be similar in size,” I replied, “but trust me. I’ve lived in Australia, and taken an 18-hour road trip that went HALFWAY up the coast. Australia is close in size to the entire continental US.” He then informed me that Michigan was a pretty big state, and that he’d have to do some research on the matter when he got home.
