This weekend, Kirsty and I made our way down to the West End Markets. (I love living in a place big enough to have places indicated by geography. West End, South Bank, etc…) Here’s what we found:
Homemade chocolate!
Pomelo: Citrus fruit native to Southeast Asia.
I expected fruits and vegetables and was in no way prepared for live crabs, homemade almond butter, locally made ginger beer, cheese, jams and chutneys, beautiful artisan jewellery and leather tooling… what a market! A new weekend favourite. And yes, that’s favourite. When in Rome…
It took forcible restraint not to buy every new food I came upon, but I behaved admirably well. (Buying food from a local market+ buying inordinate quantities and wasting much of it = what? Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.)
This all goes towards my new obsession with cooking. Spinach smoothies, zucchini cakes, moroccan chicken… having some extra time has made for real experiments in the kitchen. More on that to come!
